Sustainability Policy

1.       Introduction

This policy applies to Nevis Environmental Ltd.

We believe that sustainable development is that which was defined by Brundland Commission in 1987 as,

"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

We recognise that sustainability is more than just the environmental work that we do. We take a holistic approach to sustainable development and believe in and recognise the UN's Sustainable Development Goals set out in 2015. Environmental, economic and social sustainability is at it's heart and we engage with these through accreditations and initiatives that help us set goals and targets for our business.

Nevis Environmental Ltd accepts that it must work to preserve the sustainability of the planet, at all levels of its operations and aspires to minimise its impact on our environment and maximise the effective use of resources. We strive to achieve this by increasing communication and awareness of our efforts in accordance with this policy and fostering responsible environmental behaviour amongst staff, volunteers, and users at all levels.

We are accredited to ISO 14001 which is externally audited and commits us, not only to complying with applicable law in all of its operations but to minimise risks and impacts through the development of robust and documented systems to implement, measure, monitor, and disseminate excellent environmental performance both within its operations and to the broader community.

Nevis Environmental is committed to the social aspect of sustainability through the Scottish Business pledge; a voluntary code of business practice to ensure that prosperity, innovation, fairness and opportunity develop hand in hand in Scotland.
