Ovenden Moor Repowering
Nevis was contracted in 2014 to provide environmental support to Yorkshire Wind Power Ltd for the repowering of Ovenden Moor Wind Farm, including the decommissioning of twenty-three 400 kW turbines and the construction of nine new 2 MW turbines in their place.
Nevis oversaw the planning condition discharge process, including carrying out relevant surveys, producing relevant documentation such as Construction Environmental Management Plans, and liaising with the Local Planning Authority.
Construction commenced in 2015, during which time Nevis provided on site environmental support, including Environmental Clerk of Works, water quality monitoring, protected species surveys, and breeding bird surveys. Nevis also planned and implemented an 80Ha area of peatland restoration, which included a programme of ditch blocking, reseeding, and sphagnum plug planting, and was completed in 2016
Nevis continues to provide environmental support for the site, and is responsible for the implementation of the Habitat Management Plan and all associated monitoring whilst the wind farm is operational, as well as steering the Habitat Management Committee.
