Job Description

About the role

Nevis have a variety of long standing clients and long term projects, as well as a raft of new projects for 2022. We are therefore seeking a senior ornithologist to complement our existing teams in either the Inverness or Carlisle Office

Undertaking a range of fieldwork/technical surveys

Provide technical and management support in respect to the ecology management activities and responsibilities at a project level for clients

Nevis have a wide client base across Scotland and the North of England and so our sites include onshore wind, hydro and land for development. We have a culture of clear, informed and warm communication. We want our clients to come back to us, so a quality service with good communication about progress is vital.

List Title

Oversee the organisation and execution of assigned environmental projects and tasks, liaison with clients and other stakeholders.

Nevis prides itself on a quality, bespoke service to our clients - our clients are at the heart of what we do. You will have to communicate effectively with all stakeholders you encounter in your work. We have a clear company culture and management structure so you won't have to figure it out alone.

List Title

Tendering for new projects, appointment and management of other environmental consultants in accordance with internal procedures.

Seniority comes with responsibility, so we'll need your expertise to craft winning tenders and to review documents. Those projects that you have responsibility for, will have staff that you need to take along with you, so good people management skills will go along way. We understand that technical people often have years of experience in their chosen discipline, but don't necessarily have those extra business skills, so we will be with you until your confidence grows

List Title

Undertake or coordinate inspections and environmental/ecological surveys if required alongside other project team members to ensure environmental compliance across all projects.

Your expertise is important to us and so is getting stuck in when needed. Supporting each other is a big part of Nevis culture and you will be expected to train others and keep them right.

List Title

Provide sound and professional environmental or ecology advice to the project team

Nevis is all about its people - we are a tight knit bunch who enjoy where we work, what we do and where we live. A passion for the great outdoors and a willingness to assist wherever needed and go the extra mile to help your colleagues is what we are all about!
